Proudest teaching moment: “Creating a “Mock Debate” to represent last year’s presidential election. I had students act as each of the candidates in front of the entire school. Other students created poster boards which provided information about political parties, ideologies, and the election process. The school community was able to see the posters before the scripted debate. It was a perfect representation that was student-led!”
Teaching Philosophy: “Three things: (1) It’s important for students to connect their learning to their own lives. (2) Each class should challenge them through new skills and content they can use in the future (I believe we need to improve on our ability to learn from reading and writing). (3) Finally, as an educator it is crucial to learn from more experienced teachers. I share a room with someone who can command the classroom regardless the size. I strive to be as successful as him one day.”
Toughest challenge facing educators: “Our school has a limited number of faculty members, and we try to provide as many programs as the larger schools. Whether it is the preparation for an extracurricular activity, a sport, or administrative work (we can’t forget teacher planning!) the toughest challenge is TIME.”
